Abstract
The purpose of the study is to explore the recovery experiences of the people with mental disabilities using the ¡®Mental Health Total Care Service(MHTCS)¡¯. For the analysis of the data, we used the phenomenological method developed by Giorgi(1985). We interviewed 12 persons with mental disabilities living in Yeong-gwang-gun, Jeonnam province who participated in the MHTCS. We identified four themes of the recovery process which had fourteen subcategories. The four themes can be summarize as follows: 1) Experiencing the collapsed daily life in the miserable life situation. 2) A new experience intervened in the life. 3) The darkness passed and a new life began. 4) Living today¡¯s life looking ahead to tomorrow. The core meaning of the recovery process in this research is ¡®the restoring of daily life through management of relation.¡¯ Having lived a miserable daily life without any help in the illness, the participants got encouraged for change through the meeting and interaction with the case manager and could restore their collapsed daily life.
